Like Mother, Like Son

I love to bake and I believe I have passed this trait on to John. We are always baking something. This has gotten to be even more so since I am pregnant. Today John and I made brownies after Bible study and lunch. I have passed on another trait to my sweet son, eating the batter or cookie dough. I guess he figures since I can't eat it while pregnant he will eat my share too. I finally wised up and put an old T-shirt on him while we do this messy project.

John's New Fascination

Popsy has started a new fascination for John. He got John his first knife for his first birthday and now on all holidays I think he receives a new one. How many two year olds do you know with a knife collection? John got very excited when he received his Valentine's Day gift and got two new knives. They are now his favorites. He is learning the names of them and does better with that than counting them, which we work on as well.

Naptime with Daddy

Last week, in the midst of sickness and Daddy having the holiday off, John and Daddy fell asleep on the couch together. Of course, I had to get the camera out to document this sweet nap. Then Burt wakes up and gives me a look but these moments are just too sweet.

And only because she requested it. I also know that this favor will have to be returned because she is only about two months behind me in the expanding belly race. The day will come when we will get to see Lori's belly pics. :) So this is a picture taken by John. Not bad for a two-year-old, huh? I thought he did rather well although the angle could probably be more flattering. I am going to try to get a picture in another week or two because I have one at the same time when I was pregnant with John. I will be able to compare the two pictures and see a little more of how a boy and a girl do different things to your body.

Visiting with Papaw, Nana, Uncle Larkin, and Crew

Last weekend we also got to visit with Papaw, Nana, Uncle Larkin, and a whole bunch more family from Nana's side. We ran around quite a bit after meeting up with them so Mommy didn't get very many pictures, but we are sure Nana took plenty. Here are a few as we were getting ready to go to another birthday party.

Cousins Mackenzie and Kaitlann's Birthday Party

Last weekend Mommy and John headed to Tifton to cousins Mackenzie and Kaitlann's birthday party. We sure had a lot of fun visiting with family.

We stayed the night with Grandmama and Grandaddy Fulp in Nashville, GA then went back to church. After church, we played a little bit before heading to lunch and back home. I Love Valentine's!

John sure did enjoy Valentine's Day. He got to open a present from Grammy before school. He had a party at school with lots of treats. Then he opened cards that he received in the mail and more presents. He received a card with money from Nanny and immediately said "Money." He also received some stickers from Aunt Dianne and family. He LOVES stickers right now.

John said this was a "good hat."

Daddy's Coat

I have been slacking on some pictures lately and have lots to download but here are a few from a few weeks ago. Grammy didn't save too many of Daddy's things when he was younger but one of them was this coat and hat. John won't really wear the hat but he wears the coat to church. I think it is precious. I want to get a picture of John and Daddy together because there is one of Burt and his father together wearing this coat.

My God Moment

The past week or so I have been getting very anxious to know where the Army will move us or not move us come June. I have felt a peace all along that wherever we go is where God wants us. That has been a big step in itself. Burt and I didn't much sweat ranking our choices because of that. We know God is bigger than the Army. It is the not knowing that is really getting to me. Burt's cousin Edward knows his assignment and as of two days ago two of the residents here at Fort Benning know their assignments as well. So I was getting to the point that I just want to KNOW. Then yesterday clear as day God said "Do not be anxious but by prayer and petition." I was like Whoa! Then I went to Philippians and started reading. I got out two versions, NIV and NLT, and liked a different part of each. So I wrote each version down on a notecard and gave one to Burt and kept the other for myself.

NIV says "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippains 4:6-7

I love the do not be anxious part in the NIV.

Then the NLT says, "Don't worry about anything, instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts, and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

I love that if you do this you will experience God's peace which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.

I can't say that I am not going to start to get anxious or worry again until we find out, which will most likely be in April, but God has given me his word and I must present my requests to him in thanksgiving. He is a mighty big God and he will take care of us no matter what.

*** After I posted this morning I was off to Bible Study. One of the key points from Beth Moore today was To readjust our vision, Christ may choose to rearrange our surroundings. You think God is trying to tell me something? We will just have to wait and see. It may mean literally but it may mean figuratively but I just want to be open to the change.

Our Indoor Playtime and Picnic

Tuesday we were supposed to meet up with Sara, Kate, and Ben as well as Teresa, Hunter, and Hayden for a trip to the park and a picnic. Well, the beautiful 70 degree weather turned into a drizzle and light rain so we decided it best we stay inside. So we ended up at Sara's house, as always, and did a little crafting, playing, and then had an indoor picnic. Ben doing a Valentine.

Mommy and John the Builders

We visited Ikea in Atlanta several weeks ago and bought John a bookshelf for his closet. Well, John and I decided that if we waited for Daddy to put it together we could be waiting a while. So Mommy scooted it inside because it was a little heavy and we went to work.

Before the finished product is revealed, this is why we were in need of a bookshelf. Mommy loves to buy John books and she loves to receive them for presents for John. She thinks there is nothing better, but . . .

Our books are all organized for the time and John even puts them back after we get done reading them. There will have to be some rearragement of the longer clothes but this is such a drastic improvement that I will happily move some things around.

Spaghetti Face

Regression! Yes, John has taken to eating his spaghetti with his fingers. Never mind we have been using utensils for over a year. It is so much more fun to eat spaghetti with your fingers, and a much bigger mess for Mommy to clean up. This is after church on Sunday. Luckily, I took off his church clothes and he didn't want to put clothes back on at the time. So it was a lot easier to clean the spaghetti off of his shoulder, belly, legs, and face. These pictures were taken after I had already wiped him down once. I can't complain that the boy is a great eater so however it goes down I guess.
