First Day of School

The kids had their first day of school today. Last night I told Clara we needed to get her stuff together for school and she put her shoes on and said, "Go school." I told her in the morning so when I went to get her out of bed this morning she said, "School, school?" She was ready to go. I can't believe this is John's last year before kindergarten. I am actually thankful he was 8 days past his due date so he missed the deadline.

Neighborhood Block Party

We had a neighborhood block party about a week ago with a blow-up water slide, food, and a game of tag football. Look at Clara in the middle of all the boys with her hands on her knees. Burt didn't realize she was doing this until he saw the picture. John being a boy.

Build-a-Bear

We took John and Clara to make a build-a-bear before Burt leaves and Burt recorded messages for each of them. It was comical because neither of the kids realized he had recorded anything until we were in the car. John had made a dog and said "Dad, dogs don't talk." Quite comical coming from Mr. Imagination. Clara made a bunny named Katy who we dressed in a Cinderella costume. John's bear is dressed in a karate uniform and named Ty.

Preschool Open House

Last Sunday we went to the kids' preschool open house. They are going to a new school this year and I am really excited about it. Miss Serious with her fingernails that Ms. Melissa painted during Sunday School.

Dog Sitting

If you know me, you know I am not much of a dog person so this is a bit of a stretch. Our friends Jim and Stacey recently moved here and were living in guest housing for a while. They got their dog back two days before they were set to move in their new house. You aren't allowed pets in guest housing so they were sneaking her in and out. Well, they had somewhere to be one day so they asked if we could watch the dog while they went to their function. It was only Clara and I home for the day and she LOVED this puppy.

Davy, Davy Crockett

Grammy and Grandad bought the old Davy Crockett movies for John a couple of months ago. Then with our recent trip to San Antonio and the Alamo you can guess what this guy has been playing a lot of. He even knows this is how the Tennessee Volunteers were named and as cool as that is, there is no budging this boy from being a Seminole. He has even decided he wants to be Chief Osceola for Halloween. Guess I need to start working on that costume!!

VBS

John went to Vacation Bible School a couple of weeks ago at our friends Wanda, Katy, and Kara's church. He had a blast!! Clara thought she went too and ended up on stage during the program the final night.
